In 2011 we started clearing all the invasive trees like Black wattle and Pine. By middle 2012 we had cleared about 20 hectares and we started planting Outs and Barley. In July we bought the first 25 SA Boergoat ewes and about a month later we bought a herd of 55 goats. Since then we bought and sold some more and our flock grew to about 240 goats. We are in the proses of selecting the most functional, efficient and fertile goats. Our aim is not to put the fattest goat on auction that was fed from a bag but rather to put self-sufficient goats from a heavy hartwater area on the market that will not need much attention and can breed successfully in extensive environments. Did you know? Boergoats have one of the healthiest red meats on the market today.
